I’m Maria de Conceicao. I live in Switzerland with my Swiss beau and our two young boys. By profession, I was an English Editor, but my creative soul and move to Switzerland honed my passion for cooking and photography which blossomed into me becoming a Food-stylist.
My food story like any other, begins from when I was a little girl in a big kitchen. The only difference is, this kitchen had two queens cooking in it. My Mother and my Grandmother. Two very different cooks, but both fired up with the same passion to create meals to nourish and feed our family.
My love affair with food and recipes began right here.
Many many years later, long after the delicious meals they cooked were gone, only the distant fragrance and phantom taste remained. The longing to recreate the dishes from my childhood set me on a course to bring back cherished memories from my kitchen and freeze them in a frame. And that, my dear friends, is how I embarked on a journey of photographing food.
I am blessed with a natural talent for cooking. I understand ingredients, especially spices, given that I come from an Indian background. The dishes I create are heavily influenced by my love for the Indian kitchen and my environment. What can you expect from me if you want a recipe developed? Something local and seasonal, with a spiced twist to it of course!
I love a good challenge when put in a kitchen with ingredients. I can conjure up a recipe with whatever you throw at me.
